Moving Metro

Moving Metro started as a “capstone project” for a class, but quickly turned into something bigger. Several people in the first-year journalism class relied on public transit to get to school, which inspired us to think about solutions. Our first-hand experiences allowed us to dig deeper into common complaints about transit while focusing on what can be done to solve them.

Instead of standard reporting, we wanted to include the public in a real conversation. The Moving Metro panel was meant to facilitate a solution-based discussion. The journalism class spent weeks collecting facts, statistics and speaking to experts and officials to guide our conversation. The goal of this project is to enact effective change.
